Hello computer,
I just read an amazing blog piece about the fact that the internet is dying…and we need to save it.
It is thought provoking and has an interesting perspective. And while social media is good and has it’s place, I like the analogy of it being a cul-de-sac on the internet. The power of the internet is its diversity, and the danger of social media is that we can get sucked into an echo chamber, blogging is not perfect mechanism but once upon a time it was diverse and so it’s probably worth preserving.
And so, I am starting a rebellion. I am going to start posting less on social media and more on my actual blog. I will still use the outposts, but as outposts where I reach out. But my rebellion is to actually create content. I read an interesting piece by Lynn Terry where she says that she regulates her content consumption with the rule that for every piece of content that she consumes she creates a piece as well. Now, I won’t take it to that extreme…I generally read a great deal in the process of forming my own opinion, but I am thinking of setting a ratio of consumption to creation.

I will use the power of social media…but I will not forget the fact that although it be little, it can be fierce. Whose with me in my rebellion to save the internet?
Love and rebellion,
Trisha
