Sometimes, we keep secrets. Sometimes we believe they are for the best. But what happens when the secret starts eating away at your soul. Where living the lie starts taking its toll. But you keep the secret because it is all that you have ever known?
Secrets, they are part of our lives. Secrets, they are the only thing we have ever known. Secrets, the poison of our mind. But we keep them, because even they are unpleasant. They are familiar. Familiar and comforting, we know them for what they are.
And they ours…so we don’t speak. We keep silent. Perhaps, because we are afraid no one will believe us. Or worse, will believe us, and pity us. Perhaps we keep them because we don’t want to upset the status quo. And yet, we keep the secrets, even when they are eating at us like a cancer.
